The numbers, explained.
Price source
The default provider is Gold API (gold-api.com). Prices are indicative USD per troy ounce. The provider does not specify bid or ask in this response; we do not invent either. Source timestamps are distinct from collection times.
Collection schedule
The included scheduler is designed to collect snapshots three times daily at 9am, 1pm and 5pm America/New_York, including daylight-saving changes. Scheduled operation requires a running scheduler and configured PostgreSQL database.
History and changes
Charts contain collected observations only. History begins with the first successful import. Change percentages compare the first and last observations in the selected range; they are not official daily closing returns. Historical samples are not interpolated into invented observations.
Freshness
A quote more than twelve hours old is labeled delayed. This conservative rule can label weekend or holiday quotes delayed even when markets are closed. We do not assert an open-market status without a market calendar.
Source permission
Gold API currently permits commercial website use. An optional HTML adapter exists for sources you have permission to access and republish. Restricted dealer sites are not scraped by default.
Limits
Quotes are not retail offers or guaranteed execution prices. Our calculator excludes taxes, delivery, insurance and storage unless the user explicitly includes them. Verify prices independently before financial decisions.
